TRIPPING OVER THE SAME STONE

The prohibition of alcohol
almost a century
ago
gave rise to
mafias we still
have to endure
today.

Making drugs illegal
spawned ever growing
cartels
that managed to control
entire countries
and caused more
deaths,
violence
and tragedies
than all those
substances
combined ever.

Banning people
from travelling
freely
the four corners
of the world
caused
horrible gangs
that still traffic with
human beings.

Sometimes I wonder
why these prohibitions
only benefit
a few
while most of us
largely suffer.
Are we that stupid
to trip over
and over
the same fucking
stone?
